Floating PIN tutorial
Overview
The Floating PIN functionality of the Viva.com Terminal App enhances both usability and security when entering a card PIN. Instead of the PIN pad always appearing in fullscreen, the floating overlay allows cardholders to reposition the PIN pad on large displays. This ensures the entry process is secure by enabling the cardholder to hide the PIN from external viewing while still keeping the app interface user-friendly.
This feature is particularly beneficial for payment terminals with larger touch screens (8 inches and above), where a fullscreen PIN pad may not be practical or secure.
How the Floating PIN Works
On devices with a screen diagonal of 8 inches or larger, the PIN pad will appear as a floating overlay rather than in fullscreen mode.
If the screen’s width is more than three times the PIN pad’s width, the floating pad can be dragged around the display. This allows the cardholder to place it in a position shielded from others standing behind them.
While the PIN pad is floating, the rest of the screen will display an animated background with captions, prompting the user to move the PIN pad to a secure spot.
On smaller screens (less than 8 inches), the default fullscreen PIN entry remains unchanged for simplicity.
How to Change the Card PIN Layout in the Viva.com Terminal App
1.- Open the Viva.com Terminal App.
2.- Go to Settings.
3.- Select Card PIN layout from the menu.
4.- Choose one of the available options:
- Auto-calculated The app will automatically select the most appropriate PIN pad layout based on the device’s screen size and dimensions.
- Fullscreen The PIN pad will always be displayed in fullscreen mode, covering the entire screen. Recommended for smaller terminals.
- Floating overlay The PIN pad will appear as a movable floating overlay. This is ideal for large touch screen devices (≥ 8 inches), as it allows the cardholder to adjust the position for privacy.
- Static overlay The PIN pad will appear as a fixed overlay (not movable). This option maintains a consistent placement while still avoiding fullscreen.
